Hello Everyone, I hope you and your players are all enjoying the football season so far here at EJFC and are looking forward to the remainder of the season and watching the players grow and enjoying their footballing journey.
As the CWO for EJFC I would like to provide you with an update from a Child Welfare perspective. We recently had a safeguarding visit from the FA to Hurtwood Park where our younger age groups play and train on a Saturday morning. This visit was well received by you the parents, the coaches and the feedback from the Andrew and Tim at the FA was positive. The closing comment from the visit’s report was:
“Both Tim and I were pleased to receive some very positive feedback from the parents present about the club and could see the players were happy and fully engaged. Thank you for your continued work in making the football at your club safe and enjoyable for all our young players.”
We have a few small actions we need to work on which the Committee and coaching team are already working on to address. Two of the feedback items we received from the FA were to make sure everyone is aware of the FA whistleblowing policy and promoting my role within the club, as the CWO, and to make sure everyone has my contact details.

We are committed at EJFC in making sure the players have a safe and fun environment. EJFC puts safeguarding as the number one priority in our Club’s values and is a major part of our code of conduct and Club ethos. The team of coaches and committee at Ewhurst JFC have completed the FA safeguarding training and all new members of the coaching team are first CRB checked, and are encouraged to complete the safeguarding and Emergency First Aid training. EJFC supports the new coaches in gaining their FA Level 1 certification.

Whistle-blowing can be used as an early warning system or when it’s recognised that appropriate actions have not been taken. This approach or policy is adopted in many different walks of life.
It is about revealing and raising concerns over misconduct or malpractice within an organisation or within an independent structure associated with it.
Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague can also use whistle-blowing by calling 0800 169 1863 and asking for The FA's safeguarding team, or via email on safeguarding@TheFA.com.
